Our history

Custom Choc Pty Ltd is an independently owned and trusted family business. Since 1985, chocolate confectionary has been manufactured in the purpose-built premises located in Oakleigh, Melbourne, Victoria.

John and Prue Wood founded Custom Choc. A natural progression for John, who was a veteran of the confectionery industry. His extensive experience and insight were honed in companies such as Rowntree Hoadleys, Pink Lady, Beatrice Foods, Red Tulip culminating with an instrumental role in setting up KL Ballantyne.

Peter Wood joined the company in 1988 after a career in stockbroking. To complement his father’s industry expertise, Peter travelled to Germany to successfully complete a Diploma of Confectionery Technology. With Europe regarded as the benchmark in the confectionery business, there was much insight gained and implemented at Custom Choc.

The combination of Peter’s technical knowledge and John’s vast industry experience are the backbones of the growth and development of Custom Choc and the business it is today.

Peter Wood is the Managing Director of the Company and has been running the business since John’s retirement in 1989.

Custom Choc proudly manufactures a wide range of very competitively priced compound and chocolate products to the wholesale, distributor and bulk markets throughout Australia and New Zealand. This has successfully expanded to major supermarket chains, independents and retailers alike.
